Nelida’s people skills, are profound, it has been taken her to be loved and very welcomed wherever she goes. She is sought by weavers and healers alike. Sacred loom kickstarts initiatives to bring the weaving art from Cusquenian communities to the wider world. Our association formed in 2020 just before the most contagious virus in the world closed down global travel.
Covid-19 was a period of hardship when many entrepreneurs saw their dreams collapse. Here in Peru our families, friends and communities were deeply affected. During the pandemic, we encouraged our communities to continue to demonstrate their skills and weaving talents which is their primary way of feeding their families. With no international visitors to buy their sacred textiles we created this new online marketplace sacredloomperu.com to support our communities and bring their exquisite works of art to you, our global family.
Our weaving community continued to work, looking at new Andean patterns, exploring ways to create different colours by natural dyeing and creating new designs which we believe are more suited to modern tastes. Sacred Loom was inspired, through challenge, to begin this journey towards creating a better future for our communities of weavers.
