Andean Mestana | Mesa Cloth

A Mestana, or mesa cloth, is used to contain sacred items. These ancient medicine bundles of the Andes are used to connect to Pachamama and the Apus, or mountain spirits.

This piece has a strong connection with Mother Earth, and all its designs are a reflection of nature.

Each piece has been meticulously handcrafted from start to finish. For this, weavers collect the wool from their own alpacas, then create the wool fibers and hand-dye them with natural dyes taken from plants and seeds. Once the wool is transformed into a beautiful natural yarn, our artisans hand-knit it using intricate techniques passed down through generations. These majestic pieces honor ancient Andean knowledge while preserving traditional designs and methods that have endured for centuries.
