Description

Nowadays, this powerful cloth in the Andean worldview still represents the four elements (pacha – earth, wayra – wind, nina – fire, yacu – water)Use this cloth as a “despacho” in ceremonial offerings or as cloth for your mesa. Its corners are embellished with yarn tassels.

Each piece has been individually handcrafted from scratch. For this, they collect the wool from their own alpacas, then create the wool fibers, hand dye them with natural dyes made from plants and seeds, and finally when they turn them into a beautiful and natural wool yarn, they hand knit from intricate way these majestic pieces with which they honor their ancestors while respecting their techniques and designs, which is why their textiles are considered the closest to those of the Incas.

Offerings, ceremonies and rituals – Pachamama

Ancestral traditions that date back thousands of years are still being performed and practiced in the Andean highlands of Peru’s remote regions. The Despacho ceremony, an offering to Pachamama, is one of Peru’s oldest, and most sacred, rituals; one that allows the people of the Andes to give thanks to their one and only goddess: Pachamama, our Mother Earth.

A despacho offering is a symbolic way in which human beings give back to Pachamama for what they abundantly receive from her. In essence, the purpose is the restoration of exchange between humans and nature, bringing both into balance.
